Crafting Character: A Real Cambridge Kitchen Design Journey

The Brief

For the owner of this beautiful house in Cambridge, the kitchen was destined to be much more than a place to cook-it would become the creative heart of the home. As a passionate home chef, our client envisioned a space where they could experiment, entertain, and relax in equal measure.
They approached us as a bespoke kitchen company with a clear and inspiring brief: transform an awkward corner into a standout feature, introduce a two-tone painted scheme, and create a functional layout suited to serious cooking.
Timing was a major factor. The property was undergoing extensive building works, and the client was living among the construction. This meant the project had to move at a fast pace, with meticulous planning and smooth coordination alongside builders and other trades.
Although much of our reputation has been built around bespoke kitchens in Essex, we were delighted to apply the same level of care and craftsmanship to this unique Cambridge kitchen design.

The Approach

From the outset, our focus was on crafting a kitchen that blended practicality with personality. The client wanted a breakfast bar to provide a casual seating area, a place to enjoy morning coffee or keep company while cooking.
Storage was equally important. We incorporated clever pull-out mechanisms to ensure every utensil and ingredient had a dedicated place, making the kitchen both efficient and easy to navigate.

A key part of this Cambridge kitchen design was the two-tone cabinetry. The client chose Bone China Blue and Juniper Ash, a combination that brought warmth and character while offering a sophisticated backdrop for everyday life.

Perhaps the most distinctive element was the treatment of the challenging corner. Rather than seeing it as a limitation, we saw it as an opportunity to create a bespoke corner unit that felt integral to the design. Above the worktops, floating shelves framed by glazed cabinets added a sense of openness and elegance.

The Install

Like all our kitchens, this one was handcrafted in-house by our skilled team. Every cabinet, shelf, and panel was measured, built, and hand-painted in our own workshop before being brought to the site. That’s the benefit of working with a company that keeps everything under one roof-you can trust that quality is consistent from start to finish.
Installation required careful coordination. With builders, plumbers, and other trades all working around the clock, clear communication was vital. Our project manager worked closely with everyone on site to keep the schedule moving and to ensure the client could begin using their new kitchen as soon as possible.
Despite the pace, the fitting was seamless, reflecting the dedication and experience that underpin all our Cambridge kitchen design projects.

The Result

The finished kitchen is a vibrant, welcoming space that feels both fresh and timeless. The Bone China Blue and Juniper Ash cabinetry provides a striking visual contrast, while the breakfast bar offers the perfect spot to pause and take in the surroundings.
For our client, the kitchen has completely transformed how they use their home. With clever storage solutions and quality appliances, they now have the freedom to cook, experiment, and entertain with ease.

The floating shelves and glazed display cabinets create an airy atmosphere, while the bespoke corner unit has become the kitchen’s signature feature, which is proof that thoughtful Cambridge kitchen design can turn even the most awkward spaces into something special.
