If you’ve ever wondered exactly how our bespoke kitchen designs come to life, this blog walks you through the full journey from first enquiry to final installation. Whether you’re planning your dream kitchen or simply want to understand what to expect, here is a detailed look at the entire process we follow here at Regent St James Kitchens.
Everything starts with a conversation. When you contact us by phone, email or through our website, we’ll ask if you have any floor plans or architectural drawings. Sharing these in advance gives us a clearer understanding of your space and helps us begin shaping ideas for your bespoke kitchen design.
We’ll then arrange your initial consultation. This may take place over the phone, online, or in person. During this meeting, we talk through how you use your kitchen and what matters most to you. Whether it’s cooking, entertaining or creating a space that blends modern features with classic design, this discussion forms the foundation of your bespoke kitchen design.
If you don’t have existing floor plans or measurements, we’ll arrange a home visit. One of our team members will visit your property to take accurate measurements and assess the space, helping us move forward with a design that fits perfectly.
Following your consultation, you will be invited to visit our appointment-only showroom in Great Yeldham. This visit is an essential part of the design journey. You will be able to see your bespoke kitchen design visualised on screen using professional software, and together we will explore cabinetry options, colours, worktops and layout ideas.
You’ll also have the chance to view kitchens currently in production in our on-site workshop and begin building a moodboard with your chosen finishes and features.
After the showroom appointment, we’ll refine and complete your bespoke kitchen design. At this stage, every detail is confirmed, including layout, cabinetry styles, hardware, internal features, and appliances. Once everything is approved, we’ll prepare your quote and move to the production phase.
We provide a clear, detailed quotation with no hidden costs. All pricing includes VAT. Payment is made in four stages. A 10 per cent deposit secures your order. A further 40 per cent is paid when materials are ordered, another 40 per cent is due before installation, and the final 10 per cent is paid seven days before your installation date.
If you are purchasing appliances through us, these are itemised separately unless only one or two items are included. We work with trusted premium partners such as Fisher & Paykel, whose products complement our bespoke kitchen designs beautifully.
With the design finalised, your kitchen moves into production. Everything is made in-house by our skilled joiners, using raw materials that are cut, assembled and joined by hand. We work from a detailed plan pack that includes measurements, cabinetry lists, elevations and a full specification tailored to your design.
Every kitchen we build is hand-painted in our in-house paint room. After careful sanding and preparation, we apply two coats of primer followed by three coats of paint, all applied by hand. This technique creates a textured finish with subtle brush strokes that enhance the quality and individuality of your bespoke kitchen design. Any oak components are stained or oiled and finished with lacquer for lasting protection.
Once the painting is complete, each component is inspected and checked. After a final quality control stage, your kitchen is carefully wrapped and stored in our secure, temperature-controlled barn until installation. Clients are welcome to visit and see their kitchen laid out before it is delivered.
Our in-house installation team delivers and fits your kitchen with the same care and attention to detail used throughout the process. Because every stage of your bespoke kitchen design has been managed under one roof, we can ensure accuracy, consistency and a seamless finish.
Once your kitchen is installed, we always enjoy hearing how our clients are settling in. If you have any follow-up questions or would like to share feedback, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
At Regent St James Kitchens, every part of the process happens under one roof. Our design studio, showroom, workshop and paint room are all located on the same site in Great Yeldham. We do not outsource, we do not use pre-sprayed cabinetry, and we do not cut corners.
This complete control allows us to maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship, delivering bespoke kitchen designs that are built to last and made entirely around you.
If you’re ready to start planning your own bespoke kitchen design, we would love to welcome you into our showroom. Book your appointment today and take the first step towards a beautifully handcrafted, hand-painted bespoke designer kitchen made just for you.
